The label is part of the USDA-led BioPreferred Program, assisting with the development and expansion of markets for biobased products worldwide and the communication of a product’s biobased content.

APY’s yarn is made with 100% viscose staple fibre, produced from natural, renewable and certified wood. Earlier this year in June 2020, APY was awarded the OEKO-TEX STD 100 certification by TESTEX AG, confirming that our yarn is free from any harmful substances and safe to use in baby articles. Consumers worldwide are increasingly turning to viscose as preferred fibre because it is not only biodegradable but also naturally compostable.

“This achievement demonstrates our commitment to deliver the best quality product to our customers, while maintaining our commitment to best-in-class sustainability performance,” said Basrie Kamba, Director of APR. “APY’s research and development center is equipped with facilities from spinning to garment production, alongside world-class testing labs for developing a diversified range of new products and functions. This enables us to collaborate with our customers and the larger textile industry to be a driver in capitalising on the emerging technology trends in fiber, textiles and fashion, while keeping up with changing market conditions,” he added.

Using 100% renewable biobased fibre reduces the reliance for non-renewable petrochemical-based fibres in the textile industry. APY only source fibre from Asia Pacific Rayon who produces fully traceable sustainable viscose staple fibre.
