APR Gives Back to the Communities in 4 Districts | Asia Pacific Rayon Skip to main content

As part of an annual Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) tradition, Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) celebrated Founder’s Day celebration by distributing staple goods packages to 3,222 households in four districts: Pelalawan, Kuantan Singingi, Kampar and Siak. The care packages consisting of rice, cooking oil, canned fish, and sugar were distributed directly to households that are struggling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The four districts also received health supplements and vitamins, distributed via the community health centres, Posyandus, for expectant mothers and toddlers.

In addition, APR and RAPP staff volunteered their time to renovate a local secondary school, SMPN 6, in Pelalawan on November 26th, 2020. Volunteers delivered books donated by company staff and their families.

Acting Head of Sering Village, Mr. Musa, said the assistance provided by APR is highly appreciated especially during this economic downturn. He believes the care packages will bring needed relief to the residents, especially as households are struggling with the rising cost of food and loss of income in this challenging time. “We are also happy with the supplies of vitamins for expectant mothers and toddlers to strengthen their immunity in our village. The additional educational assistance is a welcome relief for our children,” he said.

Husein (78), a local resident in the village for more than 40 years remarked, “We are very happy to receive the care package. This pandemic has been very challenging for many of the households, many of us are struggling with cashflow,” he said.

Staff outreach on RGE Founder’s Day took place in four districts and combined staff from APR and PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP).

“Last year all employees celebrated Founders Day by volunteering for a day to help the community around our operations. This year, the company changed the concept with more focused outreach to the communities in need, said Muhammad Ali Shabri, RAPP Director. “We are doing our best to ease the burden on the community amidst the economic pressure caused by COVID-19,” he said.

Employees involved in the distribution of care packages to the communities apply strict health protocols to maintain physical distance, wearing face masks and gloves, and washing hands.

In running its business, APR is guided by the business philosophy of the RGE Founder, to do good for the Community, Country, Climate, Customers, only then is it good for the company. Founder’s Day assistance will continue until mid-December 2020.
