APR Earns High Score on First Higg FSLM Verification

Pangkalan Kerinci, 14 November 2022 – Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) is proud to announce that we received 84.6%  for our first Higg Facility Social and Labour Module (FSLM) verification completed in October 2022.

The FSLM is one of five modules in the Higg Index launched by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC). The Higg FSLM measures the social labor practices facilities have in place and uphold in their manufacturing process and helps identify key focus areas for improvement. FSLM topics include working hours, wages and benefits, health and safety, and empowering communities. The objective of FSLM assessment is to reduce the social labour impacts of apparel and footwear products around the world. Verification enables manufacturers to allocate resources on capacity building and change the mind-set from compliance to performance improvement. The FSLM uses the Social and Labour Convergence Program (SLCP) assessment tool and verification is according to the rules in the SLCP Verification Protocol. APR is a signatory to the SLCP since 2022.

“Workplace health and safety is a fundamental principle for APR and core to our Human Rights Policy. The outcome shows our commitment to our employees, however, there is much work to be done to address the gaps that were identified and we will not be satisfied until we meet all the criteria,” says Susan Slabbert Head of Sustainability.

As a member of the SAC, APR also implements verified Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) since 2021.
