Clean Manufacturing

Clean Manufacturing has been a priority since APR began our operations. The continuous work to improve every aspect of our recovery process toward closed loop production, and ensure we perform in the top quartile of existing industry standards. We are aligning our performance benchmarked against EU BAT. This pushes us to improve our operation and process engineering.

Water

At APR we handle the worlds most valuable resource with great respect. Water is a key aspect of a sustainable production of Viscose Staple Fibre (VSF). We have set strict targets based on industry standards and we will keep improving on our water consumption by setting more strict targets for 2020 and onwards.

Energy

All energy used by APR is from 100% renewable resources. At APR we continuously strive to improve energy efficiency. Energy management is a key aspects of a sustainable production of Viscose Staple Fibre (VSF). We are committed to minimizing our production footprint are currently in the process of assessing the Carbon footprint of our mill.

Chemical Recovery

APR’s mill is equipped with carbon disulphide recovery plant which enables a total Sulphur recovery rate of greater than 90% through condensation, absorption recovery and boiler incineration and desulphurisation treatment of tail gas. As a start-up mill, we have yet to achieve optimum recovery rates but we are confident we can improve our recovery efficiency going forward.

Effluent Emissions

We are committed to zero discharge of hazardous substances and monitor our waste water quality continuously. As a contributing member of the ZDHC, we intend to further improve our performance in line with the new standard being developed by the ZDHC for man made cellulosic fibres (MMCF) as well as the European Union Best Available Technologies (EU BAT) guidelines.

Air Emissions

The emission of Sulphur compounds to air is continuously monitored and target are set based on internationally recognised standards. We fully intend to further improve on our performance and to achieve the targets set in line with the European Union Best Available Technologies (EU BAT) guideline in future.
