ZDHC Foundation Membership
Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) has joined the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation as new contributing member in October 2019. The ZDHC Foundation oversees the implementation of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme, a collaboration of major fashion brands, value chain affiliates and associations. Together, they drive the global implementation of safer chemical management practices. They operate with transparency, using shared values, collaboration and networking to drive change, future-proof the industry, and protect the environment.
APR is part of the Man-Made Cellulosic Fibres (MMCF) working group whom is responsible for the development of an Industry specific standard.
Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) has joined Textile Exchange as a new member in August 2019. Textile Exchange is a global non-profit organisation that promotes sustainability in the textile value chain, Textile Exchange works closely with its members to drive industry transformation in preferred fibres, integrity, standards and responsible supply networks aiming at minimising the negative environmental impact of the global textile industry.
Becoming a member of Textile Exchange is APR’s commitment to sustainability and driving continuous improvements across our operations. Textile Exchange provides a global platform to learn from industry peers, drive industry transformation in preferred textile fibres, and collaborate on innovations in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) announced a partnership with the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) at the end of 2019. BCSD provides a platform for businesses to share and promote best practice in tackling risks and taking advantage of opportunities related to sustainable development. It will also act as a key partner to government and civil society providing business input and solutions for Indonesian policies on sustainability issues.
Through the partnership, APR – one of the world’s largest integrated rayon manufacturers – is committed to the sustainable production of raw materials and clean manufacturing.
Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) & Higg Index
APR has joined the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) as member in June 2020. The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is an industry-wide group of more than 250 leading apparel, footwear, and textile, brands, retailers, suppliers, service providers, trade associations, nonprofits/NGOs, and academic institutions working to reduce the environmental and social impacts of products around the world.
Through multi-stakeholder engagement, the SAC seeks to lead the industry toward a shared vision of sustainability built upon a common approach for measuring and evaluating apparel, footwear, and textile product sustainability performance that spotlights priorities for action and opportunities for technological innovation. The SAC was incorporated as a 501c(6) nonprofit organization and launched the groundbreaking Higg Index suite of tools in 2011.
