Our Milestones
13 November 2019, Viscose staple fibre producer, Asia Pacific Rayon (APR), has earned the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Certified Biobased Product label. The label is part of USDA-led BioPreferred Program that assists with the development and expansion of markets for biobased products worldwide and communicates a product’s biobased content. Viscose Staple fibre produced by APR is made from 100% cellulose and is certified as 100% biobased. Consisting of natural plant-polymers, viscose fibres are biodegradable and naturally decompose into the soil.
October 12, 2019 – Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) and technology company TrusTrace have announced plans to collaborate to support the traceability of viscose staple fibre (VSF) from seedling nurseries and plantations where raw materials are sourced, to the high street where garments containing the same fibre are sold to consumers.
1 October 2019, Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) has joined the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation as new member. The ZDHC Foundation is a collaboration of major fashion brands, value chain affiliates and associations which seek to drive the global implementation of safer chemical management practices in the textile, leather and footwear industries.
5 August 2019, Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) has joined Textile Exchange as a new member. A global non-profit organisation that promotes sustainability in the textile value chain, Textile Exchange works closely with its members to drive industry transformation in preferred fibres, integrity, standards and responsible supply networks aiming at minimising the negative environmental impact of the global textile industry.
5 May 2019 – Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) launched the mobile app for its ‘Follow Our Fibre’ initiative ahead of the events at the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, which will provide traceability and transparency over its viscose-rayon production value chain from seed to fibre. Using the enterprise blockchain technology developed by Perlin, APR customers can now trace its finished products back to their plantation origins based on value chain data recorded on blockchain. This initiative showcases APR’s efforts to maintain industry-leading practices for sustainable sourcing and production.
