International Women’s Day is a crucial reminder that our commitment to women goes beyond simple recognition. We are actively building a workplace where women are empowered, have equitable opportunities for advancement, and thrive in a truly inclusive environment.
At Asia Pacific Rayon (APR), women are not just part of the workforce—they are shaping its future. Across operations, from safety and production to quality assurance, women are leading with expertise, innovation, and collaboration.
As part of its APR2030 goals, APR has increased female representation from 18.2% to 29% and expanded women’s roles in key areas, including maintenance, laboratory work, and shift coordination. This commitment underscores APR’s broader sustainability vision, ensuring that women have equal opportunities to lead and thrive. For International Women’s Day 2025, we are highlighting three women who are making an impact every day.
Safety First with Vellin Azitawansa
Safety is central to Vellin Azitawansa’s role, where she ensures systems are in place and functioning to protect workers. She also educates teams to prioritise hazard prevention, fostering a safety-first mindset. “Emergencies can happen at any given moment. When a safety risk arises, I act quickly, make decisions, and keep everyone safe,” she says. Working in safety management has strengthened her confidence and leadership. “It’s a role where women can assert themselves and take on greater responsibility,” she adds.
