Lyocell

Lyocell by The Lyocell Company

Today’s textile market demands more. Brands need credible sustainability, spinners need reliable performance and processing stability, and end consumers want sustainable products and comfort without compromise. Too often, conventional fibres force trade-offs between feel, performance, and environmental footprint.

Lyocell is designed to reduce those trade-offs. It is a high-performance, eco-friendly fibre produced in a closed-loop process that minimises waste, delivering consistent quality, comfort, and versatility across a wide range of textile applications and hygiene products with a low environmental footprint.

APR is the international commercial and technical partner for lyocell under The Lyocell Company brand by Sateri. APR and Sateri are members of the RGE group of companies.

Why lyocell from The Lyocell Company?

Lyocell from The Lyocell Company is a high-performance, eco-friendly fibre that delivers the quality and comfort modern consumers expect. Its versatility makes it a strong foundation for innovative products across a wide range of textile applications and hygiene products.

Eco-friendly production

Our lyocell is manufactured using a closed-loop process that recycles 99.7% of the organic solvent used to dissolve the wood pulp, significantly reducing waste and lowering our environmental footprint compared to conventional manufacturing.

Softness & comfort

Lyocell’s uniform and smooth surface structure creates fabrics with beautiful drape and a silky, luxurious feel that is comfortable against skin, without harsh chemical softening treatments. Lyocell from The Lyocell Company is OEKO-TEX certified as safe for contact with babies and small children.

Durability & strength

Lyocell is known for its strength. It maintains high tensile strength throughout the textile process. The result is a high-performance fabric that resists tearing and maintains its shape and quality even after repeated washing and wear.

Moisture management

Lyocell enables excellent absorption and release of moisture. The highly effective transfer keeps the wearer cool, dry, and helps in natural body temperature regulation. By preventing moisture from accumulating, lyocell may create an environment that naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria, resulting in a textile that stays fresher for longer.

Biodegradability

True to its eco-friendly origin, lyocell is designed to fully return to nature. It is certified biodegradable and can safely return to the land and marine environment within 28 days at the end of its lifecycle.

Lyocell for all applications

The balance of luxurious feel, strength, and great moisture absorption makes lyocell a highly versatile fibre. Manufacturers and brands are incorporating this fibre across diverse industries to create products that deliver on both performance and environmental responsibility.

Home textiles

Lyocell fibre’s smooth texture, durability, and cooling properties elevate standard household items into long-lasting, sustainable luxuries.

Bed linen and duvets

Lyocell’s uniform structure creates fabrics with an exceptional hand-feel and softness. More importantly, its breathability and efficient moisture transfer provides a naturally cooling effect, ensuring a comfortable sleep environment and contributing to lasting quality.

Towels and bath textiles

Lyocell fibre is highly effective for bath textiles due to its high absorbency and quick-drying ability. It also retains its strength when wet, ensuring durability even with repeated washing.

Upholstery

Lyocell’s strength and resistance to surface piling make it an ideal blend component for furnishing fabrics. It is highly durable, helping maintain consistent quality over time. With excellent colour uptake, it also suits furnishings and decorative textiles that retain vibrant colour and brighten any space.

Fashion and apparel

Lyocell is the foundation for high-quality textiles that balance performance with a premium feel. Its natural properties ensure that the final garments are as durable as they are comfortable.

Athleisure

Lyocell’s natural ability to quickly manage and wick away moisture makes it a high-performing choice for athleisure. Its uniform structure creates fabrics with a beautiful fluid drape and exceptional comfort, making it the preferred fibre for stylish athleisure.

Innerwear

Lyocell is ideal for garments worn close to the skin due to its smoothness and moisture-wicking ability. The fibre’s smoothness reduces friction, and the highly effective moisture transfer regulates body temperature and helps inhibit odour, giving all-day comfort and freshness.

Daily wear

Lyocell adds lasting value to everyday apparel. Its high tenacity prevents fibre breakage during washing and wear, extending garment life. It also absorbs dye deeply, ensuring products like casual wear and denim retain their colour and newness longer.

Non-woven products

Lyocell fibre offers a high-performance, eco-friendly alternative to synthetic materials in the hygiene and medical sectors. Its natural purity and structural strength make it suited for high-standard, single-use products. And because it is certified biodegradable, it reduces waste to landfill compared with synthetic alternatives.

Hygiene and medical applications

Lyocell is the preferred fibre for wipes, facial masks, and medical dressings where both performance and safety are critical.

Wet strength & durability

Unlike other fibres, lyocell remains strong and intact even when fully saturated. This ensures that wipes and dressings do not tear or fall apart during use.

Skin-friendly purity

Naturally smooth and free from harsh impurities, lyocell is gentle on sensitive skin, providing comfort without irritation.

Responsible lifecycle

As a wood-based fibre, our lyocell is certified biodegradable. It offers a circular solution for single-use products, from sustainably managed wood sources to a safe return to the environment.
