APR Distributed Basic Goods to Communities in Pangkalan Kerinci | Asia Pacific Rayon Skip to main content

PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP) and Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) continue to support communities most affected by Covid-19

At the time of year when Indonesians gather to celebrate the end of Ramadan, this year’s celebration took a different direction.

COVID-19 and the country-wide social restrictions that come with it prevented many of us from making the usual trips to pay respect to community elders during Idul Fitri. The end of Ramadan last month is a reminder that APR has a responsibility to respond in this time of both need and celebration.

On May 20 2020, RAPP and APR distributed close to 11,000 household packages (Sembako) to impacted communities in 176 villages in five regencies across Pelalawan, Siak, Kuansing, Meranti and Kampar. The packages consisted of rice, cooking oil and instant noodles, and were handed out by the Director of RAPP, Mulia Nauli, to the Deputy Regent of Pelalawan, Drs. H Zardewan M, to ensure the coordinated distribution to all households affected by this economic downturn.

“By complementing the support provided by the local government for affected households in the Pelalawan Regency, we hope that the sembako assistance can help to ease the burden on the people affected by Covid-19,” said Mulia Nauli.
Pelalawan Regent HM Harris conveyed his appreciation to PT RAPP and PT APR for helping the local government to ease the burden on the people affected during the pandemic and hoped that this assistance can help relieve some economic pressure during this time. “I hope that the pandemic will end soon and the regency and country can recover with people returning to business activities,” he said.

Our actions are guided by our commitment to sustainable business as we strive towards what is good for the community, good for the country, good for the climate and good for the customer, only then it will be good for the company.
