Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) employees turned out to support RGE Founder’s Day in Pangkalan Kerinci, in Riau province, Indonesia. The two-day event, which celebrates the founding of the RGE Group by Chairman Sukanto Tanoto, is our commitment to a “CSR day” involving all employees around the world volunteering to experience first-hand our Chairman’s credo that ‘the more you give, the more you have.’
RGE Founder’s Day was celebrated in Pangkalan Kerinci in three different locations, in Lalang Kabung village, Simpang Perak Jaya village, and in Pangkalan Kerinci. Held over 23-24 August, various activities were held across the three villages, which were well attended by management, employees, and members of the local community.
These activities included painting fences, planting fruit seeds and medicinal plants, outreach to the schools, and renovation works to places of worship, amongst others.
“We had a fulfilling time working alongside local residents on these activities. This event really motivates and encourages to become more actively involved in the communities around our operations,” said Thomas Handoko, APR Director.
The annual Founders’ Day event enables employees to directly experience RGE’s 5Cs business philosophy in a personal way, in particular with an emphasis on community and climate. The 5Cs are guiding principles to ensure that our activities must be good for the Community, Country, Climate, and Customer and only then will it be good for the Company. “Guided by the 5Cs, wherever APR operates, we have to support the wellbeing of the surrounding communities,” said Mr. Handoko.
