12 March 2020 – APR now offers the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label, providing an added layer of assurance, transparency and product confidence our customers expect.

The MADE IN GREEN label verifies that an article has been tested for harmful substances and certified to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®️ It also guarantees that the fibre has been manufactured using sustainable processes under environmentally friendly and socially responsible working conditions, certified to STeP by OEKO-TEX®️ Our unique MADE IN GREEN ID when included on the hangtags of garments can be traced back to our mill where the viscose fibre was manufactured.

The President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo inaugurates Indonesia’s largest integrated viscose rayon production facility, injecting a boost for the country’s textile sector and the Indonesian Government’s industrial 4.0 development strategy.

APR successfully obtained the Sustainable Textile Production (STeP) by OEKO-TEX® the independent Swiss-based certification organisation for the responsible manufacturing of viscose staple fibre. STeP by OEKO-TEX® certification is a rigorous modular analysis of chemicals, environmental performance, environmental management, occupational health and safety, social responsibility and quality management.

31 December 2019 – Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) closed 2019 by announcing a partnership with the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD). Through the partnership, APR – one of the world’s largest integrated rayon manufacturers – is committed to the sustainable production of raw materials and clean manufacturing.

IBCSD provides a platform for businesses to share and promote best practice in tackling risks and taking advantage of opportunities related to sustainable development. It will also act as a key partner to government and civil society providing business input and solutions for Indonesian policies on sustainability issues.

USDA Biobased Certification

13 November 2019, Viscose staple fibre producer, Asia Pacific Rayon (APR), has earned the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Certified Biobased Product label. The label is part of USDA-led BioPreferred Program that assists with the development and expansion of markets for biobased products worldwide and communicates a product’s biobased content. Viscose Staple fibre produced by APR is made from 100% cellulose and is certified as 100% biobased. Consisting of natural plant-polymers, viscose fibres are biodegradable and naturally decompose into the soil.

TrusTrace Partnership

October 12, 2019 – Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) and technology company TrusTrace have announced plans to collaborate to support the traceability of viscose staple fibre (VSF) from seedling nurseries and plantations where raw materials are sourced, to the high street where garments containing the same fibre are sold to consumers.

Roadmap to ZERO

1 October 2019, Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) has joined the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation as new member. The ZDHC Foundation is a collaboration of major fashion brands, value chain affiliates and associations which seek to drive the global implementation of safer chemical management practices in the textile, leather and footwear industries.

5 August 2019, Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) has joined Textile Exchange as a new member. A global non-profit organisation that promotes sustainability in the textile value chain, Textile Exchange works closely with its members to drive industry transformation in preferred fibres, integrity, standards and responsible supply networks aiming at minimising the negative environmental impact of the global textile industry.

In May 2019 OEKO-TEX standard 100, Annex 6, Product class I certification was awarded to APR. All Viscose staple fibre produces by APR is suitable for use in the manufacturing of products fit for babies.
